MALDIVES SPECIAL – WHERE TO STAY

Finally I am back home after an incredible trip to the Maldives. As always, the time there was simply unique. I visited four different luxury resorts this time.

Every single resort was something extraordinary and has its own special charm. The first station of my trip was the Anantara Kihavah. It is about 40 minutes from the main island of Male by seaplane. The island is not too big but also not so small, witch is very pleasant for me.

We stayed in a typical beach villa. Everything is very noble. The range of activities on the island was great and I even had a boxing class there. What I particularly liked about this island was the food. Everyone was thought of. Every intolerance was taken seriously and every effort was made to make you feel 100% comfortable. And you will not believe it: They have their own orchid garden where we had a traditional british teatime in middle of the blooming plants.

The next resort is called Huvafen Fushi and was the closest resort to the main island of Male. It was much smaller and just 30 minutes boat ride from the main island of Male. This resort was also very classy with special accommodation options that leave nothing to be desired when it comes to luxury. What I particularly liked here was the special romantic atmosphere. The perfect place for couples in love or fresh wedding couples. They went to great lengths to create a wonderful atmosphere anytime, anywhere. Especially in the evening everything was lit with candles and great music played the whole time.

One thing has to be said. When it comes to massage and special treatments, the Maldives are – no matter which island, luxury one or not – simply number one. I received wonderful massages on every island and was able to try out a great range of treatments.

The next resort, The Residence Maldives at Dhigurah, was the furthest away from Male. To get there, you have to fly south in a normal propeller plane for 1 hour – it is very close to the equator. This resort is something for young people looking for water activities and fun. Diving enthusiasts don’t just imagine themselves in paradise here – they are: In a multitude of spectacular reefs, hammerhead sharks, barracudas and manta rays can be seen. I saw a turtle swimming freely for the first time in my life.

The Residence Maldives at Falhumaafushi und Dhigurah is the largest island that I have ever visited in the Maldives so far with a length of about 3 km. You can’t really get anywhere without a bike. That was a magical experience. And my husband was allowed to have a cooking lesson with the island chef and learned how to cook food from the Maldives. That was really interesting and fun.

And the last stop on my journey was a place where I’ve been before. The Velaa Private Island. A magical place and my alltime favorite where everything is possible in therms of luxury. If you want to read more about it please click on here.

This time I visited Velaa to check the novelties there. One of the biggest accommodations of the island is a residence called Nika and was redesigned by the one and only Patricia Urquiola. Checkthe pics under. Until the end of 2022 a lot of big new projects are taking place there… I can’t tell you much yet, but in advance all I can say is that this Island is getting a special ayurveda place and will become more special and luxurious than it already is… stay tuned for more news. xoxo Georgina Moreno.
